In the recording, the Bang Bang singer revealed that she’d received the breast cancer diagnosis just prior to releasing her latest single No Secrets.

“I’ve been going back and forth a little bit on should I share it?” she admits in the video, before continuing, “I want to, but there’s lots of opinions outside, and knowing that the media are going to make this way bigger than it needs to be, but also knowing that I want to share it with my fans and the people that care about me – and also I’m a sharer.”

The 37-year-old let her followers know that she’d kept the health update to herself until now because she was still processing the news herself. Despite struggling with the decision to make her diagnosis public, initially, she soon realised the power in being “an open book.”

Before Jessie J shared her breast cancer diagnosis, she had previously been open about her fertility struggles and her experience with Ménière’s disease.

“I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories,” she said.

“Before no secrets came out, I was diagnosed with early breast cancer. I’m highlighting the word early. Cancer sucks in any form but I’m holding onto the word early. I have been in and out of tests throughout this whole period. I just wanted to be open and share it,” the singer continued.

Jessie J lightened the mood with a swift dose of dark humour, which she admitted was a coping mechanism she used to “get through the hard times,” adding: “It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much – similar and worse. Um, that’s the bit that kills me. I want to just let you guys know it wasn’t something I’d planned but yeah I’m getting to keep my nipples. That’s good.”

“It’s a weird topic and a weird situation … but you know what? To get diagnosed with this as I’m putting out a song called No Secrets right before a song called Living My Best Life – which was all pre-planned before I found out about this – I mean you can’t make it up,” she continued, lightheartedly, before joking: “It’s a very dramatic way to get a boob job.”

Assuring viewers that she’d be back “with massive tits and more music” soon enough, she signed off with a wave and a smile, captioning the post: “This last 2 months have been so amazing, and having this go on along side it on the sidelines has given me the most incredible perspective. BUT… Your girl needs a hug.

Signing off with a final farewell and telling fans that she was planning to “disappear for a bit” to have her surgery and not to worry, she ended with a final zinger: “Also not getting massive tits. Or am I? No no… I must stop joking.”

Updates to come.
