‘This Guy Is Crazy’: Five Dead After Shooting In California

The gunman tried to enter a school

Five people are dead and at least seven injured after a gunman opened fire at multiple locations in Northern California.

As CNN reports, the shootings took place on Tuesday at seven locations in remote Tehama County, including a primary school.

The gunman, who has not been identified, is among the dead.

According to Sacramento Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston, the shooter attempted to enter Rancho Tehama Elementary School. One student was injured at the school, while another child who was driving with a woman was shot.

“It was very clear at the onset that we had an individual that was randomly picking targets,” Sheriff Johnston said.

According to the ABC, the shooter’s motive has not yet been established

“We have no known motive,” Johnston said. “We know of no real connection to any of the victims. Most of the victims in this case appear to be random selections.”

The shooting allegedly first began following a domestic violence incident that a neighbour had reported.

Local Brian Flint told media that his neigbour—believed to be the shooter–was in possession of a gun.

“The crazy thing is that the neighbour has been shooting a lot of bullets lately, hundreds of rounds, large magazines,” Mr Flint said.

“We made it aware that this guy is crazy and he’s been threatening us.”
