Two Hollywood greats, Meryl Streep and Martin Short played an on-screen couple in the last season of Only Murders In The Building.
However, it seems the acting was so good that the pair have people convinced that their love affair continued off-screen.
The rumours seemed to start after the pair attended the Golden Globes together.
Along with the fact Streep recently confirmed her split from long-time partner, Don Gummer, and some added fuel from gossip site, Deuxmoi, the internet had people convinced that the pair were an actual couple.

Deux Moi first referred to the alleged romance back in December 2023, when she wrote about the pair in her newsletter. This week, she didn’t back down from the rumours, when she claimed the pair were the “real deal.”
From then, tabloids and entertainment outlets began circling rumours about the two as more than just scene partners.
Their presence together at that year’s Golden Globes in early January only magnified the speculation, but it was was those initial December whispers that set the fans ablaze.
Martin Short’s representatives were quick to quash the romance talk, calling them “just very good friends, nothing more”, yet the buzz has already taken hold.

The couple have long been pals, but in 2024 their relationship took a new romantic twist in March 2025. According to a source at Page Six, it was common knowledge that the pair had been dating for “well over a year”, as of March 13 2025.
Short was married to late wife actress Nancy Dolan, for 30 years before passing away in 2021 from ovarian cancer. While Streep was previously married to sculptor Don Gummer, the couple wed in 1978, and remained together for 40 years before separating in 2018.
