Why are men like this?

If you have ever gone back to a man’s house and noticed a questionable lack of furniture then you wouldn’t be alone. The single man’s home has become a bit of a running joke online, with women of all ages sharing horror stories of dating men who live without bed bases, sheet sets and other ordinary household items.

While most of us would assume that famous men, like Robert Pattinson for example, might have their homes a little more in order than the mere mortal’s we’re dating, it so happens that that’s not the case.

In an interview with Architectural Digest, Pattinson revealed that he spent six months sleeping on an inflatable boat. Yes, that’s right, the Batman star didn’t even reach as far as an inflatable mattress.

What’s even more shocking is that Pattinson didn’t just use his blow up boat as a bed but as multiple other pieces of furniture too.

“There was a time when the only piece of furniture I had for about six months was an inflatable boat that would double as my couch, bed, and dining table,” Pattinson told the outlet. “I loved it very much, but it caused a lot of back problems.”

Fortunately these days, Pattinson has upgraded his home decor to the point of designing his own sofa, which is now on display in Los Angeles furniture store, JF Chen.

In the same interview, Pattinson reflected on designing the nine-foot-long sofa that lives in the home he shares with partner Suki Waterhouse.

“I started sketching pieces of furniture I thought would make people interact in a playful and informal way,” he said. “They all had disproportionate, oversized elements that were quite fun. And in the process of making some models out of clay, I found that organic overlapping curves had a similar effect.”

While Pattinson didn’t reveal the reason behind his boat bed, we’re hoping that he was simply between moves.
