So thank the beauty gods that celebrity dermatologist Dr Harold Lancer, who tends to the complexions of Victoria Beckham and Kim Kardashian, has the answers we need.
Speaking to Glamour, Dr Lancer stresses that “properly applying and layering products means better, more noticeable results in the long run.”
First up? Your serum or essence. Just remember this rule: “apply your thinnest products first – any serums or liquid treatments,” Dr Lancer advises. This allows them to absorb more easily than if they were blocked by thicker creams.
Next up comes moisturiser and ultimately sunscreen, which should always be your final step before makeup.
Follow the same order – thinnest formulas first – at night. And always save any active ingredients that can increase your sensitivity to the sun - think retinol and AHAs – strictly for the PM.
