Kate Middleton Celebrates Prince Louis’ First Day Of School With An Adorable New Photo

The little royal celebrates his third birthday this week!

Prince Louis is ticking off two major milestones this week: the royal celebrated his third birthday and his first day of preschool!

As always, proud parents Kate Middleton and Prince William didn’t let the moment go by without cementing the memory with an adorable new photo—showing Louis before he left for preschool on his bicycle.

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to share a new photograph ahead of Prince Louis’ third birthday tomorrow,” Kensington Palace said in a statement on April 22.

Kate, who is usually behind the royal portraits of the Cambridge children, took the snap outside the family’s Kensington Palace home on Wednesday, prior to the young prince heading to London’s Willcocks Nursery School, the same school big sister Princess Charlotte attended, according to People.

It’s tradition for the royal family to release a birthday portrait each year, and for Louis’ second birthday in 2020, Kate and Wills shared photos of their youngest child taking part in an at-home arts and crafts project, with rainbow-coloured fingers and all. Sweetly, the finger paintings were in support of National Health Service (NHS) workers and other essential workers amid the pandemic in the U.K.

And while Louis may only be three, he’s already made his first public speaking appearance alongside his older siblings last October, asking an adorable animal question to Sir David Attenborough in a video shared the royal’s social media.

He asked: “What animal do you like?”
