You can be forgiven for not even knowing that Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix are a couple. For the unaware, they have been romantically linked since early 2017 when they were filming Mary Magdalene.
And now, Page Six is claiming that Rooney, 34, and Joaquin are engaged after the actress stepped out wearing a stunning diamond ring on that finger.
The loved-up couple who usually keep their outings low-key was spotted twice this week according to the outlet – the couple was photographed taking a karate class together in Los Angeles.
Rooney and Joaquin met back in 2013 when they worked on the film Her together. They made their red carpet debut at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival where they were seen chatting and warmly embracing when Phoenix won the best actor award for his performance in You Were Never Really Here.
“They were talking to one another nonstop,” a source told People at the time. “Small talk between them. Then they went for their car and he’s holding her hand like it was unconscious. Like it fits. They seem a totally natural and easy couple.”
Meanwhile earlier this week, Rooney’s younger sister Kate Mara and actor Jamie Bell welcomed their first child together.
