As we continue to devote all of our free time to replaying episodes of Netflix's Bridgerton (and singing its Regency-era soundtrack), there's one thing we know for sure—period dramas have become our new obsession.
And it looks like Australia's own Samara Weaving is set to star in our next historical must-watch. And the fact that it's already being billed as Bridgertonmeets The Great, has us seriously excited.
According to Variety, the film is titled Liz and is a biopic about one of America’s forgotten founding mothers, Elizabeth Patterson Bonaparte.
Set to be directed by Adam Leon, Liz tells the story of the first modern celebrity in the United States. Weaving is said to be playing Elizabeth Patterson Bonaparte, a public figure who gained prominence as the first wife of Napoleon Bonaparte’s youngest brother, Jerome, and who revolutionised America’s social scene in the time of Thomas Jefferson's presidency.
But fret not, just like our favourite period dramas, the legacy of America's first international celebrity also involved her love of fashion, her wit and her independence, meaning that our beloved Regency-era fashion and beauty moments are sure to come.

Further details about Weaving's character are yet to be released, but the publication reports that the film is starting to begin production on the project.
Weaving previously starred in the hit TV show SMILF and has taken Hollywood by storm with her roles in Ryan Murphy's Hollywood on Netflix and the thriller film Ready Or Not.
Stay tuned for more details.
