Sarah Jessica Parker Just Shared A Wild ‘Sex And The City’ Theory

Mind blown

Sex and the City shaped most millennial women’s lives with friend groups aptly consisting of a Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha and many a shopping purchase justified by a Carrie Bradshaw quote. But even the biggest fans of the series wouldn’t have thought of the theory Sarah Jessica Parker just floated, which literally changes everything about the iconic show.

“Sometimes I’m like, ‘We don’t even know if Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte were real,'” the actress told news.com.au. Confused? Us too. Thankfully, she elaborates – a lot.

“Sometimes I’m like, ‘Hmmm, just to mess with myself.’ Think about it: did Carrie make them up? She’s telling a story every week. This is her point of view, it’s almost always her point of view,” she explained.

“When Carrie went to Paris and left her computer, for the first time Carrie wasn’t telling the story. In the entire run of the series, if you think about it for a second, right?”

“She left her computer which was the conduit (through) which the audiences know about Charlotte, Miranda … Samantha.”

While SJP’s theory definitely has its convincing elements, made even more so by the fact that Carrie was the narrator of the show and the only one pictured in the opening sequence, we’re going to stick to believing in Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte. Why? Because basically our entire life’s decisions were based off a culmination of the four – and I couldn’t help but wonder where that leaves us if they don’t actually exist?!
