For fashion devotees, luxury and designer brands represent the pinnacle of the sartorial sphere.
Perhaps you’ve pledged an allegiance to one of the luxury houses that pillar the fashion world or you’re an avid follower of the celebrity and style set perennially clad in the must-have buy of the season. However you find and follow the latest designer trends, one fact will likely ring true: keeping up with the latest luxury buys doesn’t come cheap.
For most, a designer purchase is rarely an impulse buy. Instead, carefully considering and investing in handbags, shoes, accessories and staple pieces that will last for seasons to come can (somewhat) justify the substantial price tag.
Another opportunity to wisely invest in that designer piece you’ve been coveting comes during sale periods like Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
With major designer retailers like Net-A-Porter and FARFETCH slashing their prices during the sale period, there’s never been a better time to buy that handbag or accessory at the top of your wish-list.

Despite being a relatively new sales period in Australia, having originated from the United States, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are quickly overtaking Boxing Day as the biggest sale period of the year.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the Black Friday sales weekend in 2023 was actually bigger than Boxing Day, with people spending more overall in November than they did in December.
“This shift in spending from December to November reflects the growing popularity of Black Friday sales and the impact of cost-of-living pressures, with consumers seeking out bargains and taking advantage of discounts in November,” ABS head of retail statistics Ben Dorber said in a media statement in January 2024.
So with most of the country’s spending falling before Christmas, our favourite brands and retailers make the most of the sale day to offer their biggest discounts during Black Friday and Cyber Monday. For us, that means we can get a head-start on Christmas shopping, or treat ourselves!
