Hedley Thomas Of The Teacher’s Pet Is Speaking At The Sydney Writers’ Festival 2019

The 2019 Syndey’s Writer Festival on from 29 April-05 May 2019 exploring this year’s central theme: Lie to Me. More than 400 international and Australian writers will address the ways that writing can be used to deceive others in an increasingly post-truth world, the lies that we tell ourselves and each other, and those we collectively tell as a country.

Each year, Sydney Writers’ Festival presents more than 300 events, attracting audiences of up to 100,000 for a week-long conversation of books and ideas. Thousands of readers and hundreds of writers will come together at our Festival hub at Carriageworks and venues across the city such as Sydney Town Hall and City Recital Hall.

Hedley Thomas is headling the impressive program following the success of The Teacher’s Pet podcast. Hedley is only the second Australian journalist to win two Gold Walkley Awards. It delves into the unsolved case of missing Sydney mother Lyn Dawson and was described by judges as “a masterclass in investigative journalism”.

The program also features Simon Schama, Meg Wolitzer, George Saunders, Susan Orlean, Andrew Sean Greer, Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah, Fatima Bhutto, Rachel Kushner, Brittney Cooper, Alexander Chee, Jenny Erpenbeck and more.
