Whether it’s good or woefully bad, there’s nothing quite like a film featuring a slew of Hollywood greats. The Adam Project is case in point.
From Ryan Reynolds to Zoe Saldaña, and Jennifer Garner to Mark Ruffalo, the newly released Netflix production is heaving with industry talent.
Add that to a special throwback surprise for those of us who were fans of Suddenly 30 and you’ve got yourself a compulsory-watch. No seriously, even Garner herself affirmed it.
The 49-year-old took to Instagram to share the mirror moment 18 years apart—a throwback to that outdoor couch scene in Suddenly 30 featuring Jenna (played by Garner) and Matt (played by Ruffalo). Below it, Garner shared another scene from The Adam Project.
There, a park bench and the pair together, arms around each other like not a day has passed.
“13 Going on 30 Reunion, aka #TheAdamProject, is out Friday,” she wrote next to the snap.
Of course, a throwback to 2004 isn’t the only reason The Adam Project is going to be big.
The plot follows time-traveling fighter pilot Adam Reed who, after accidentally crash-landing in 2022, teams up with his 12-year-old self for a mission to save the future.

Ryan Reynolds plays Adam Reed
Reynolds is one of the biggest names in Hollywood with his penchant for action comedy films cementing the impressive feat. His other recent project, Free Guy was also a hit—but it was his previous roles in Deadpool, The Proposal and Just Friends that made us first fall in love with his work.
Jennifer Garner plays Ellie Reed
Garner is instantly recognisable having been one of the biggest rom-com stars of the 2000s. Yes, there was Suddenly 30, but there was also a bunch more including The Ghost Of Gilrfriends Past, Catch & Release, Valentines Day, oh, and Oscar-winning film Juno… just to name a few.
Zoe Saldaña plays Laura
Saldaña is another iconic Hollywood actor with films like Avatar, Star Trek and Guardians of the Galaxy headlining her impressive portfolio. Excitingly, she’s also working on two major sequels to the blockbuster films—Avatar 2 (set for a 2022 release) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (expected in 2023).
Mark Ruffalo plays Louis Reed
Ruffalo has proved his talent is reliable in any and every genre. He nailed comedy in Suddenly 30, got around a major drama in Spotlight and he’s a proven action hero in The Hulk. A real all-rounder.
Catherine Keener plays Maya Sorian
Keener has one of those faces you want to place immediately, but there’s simply too many options to choose from. On her resume, comedy film The 40-Year-Old Virgin, award-winning drama Into the Wild and iconic horror, Get Out, just to name a few.
Alex Mallari Jr. plays Christos
Filipino Canadian actor Mallari is best known for his work in space opera series Dark Matter and popular Netflix series, Ginny & Georgia. Now that he’s joined the slew of major stars in The Adam Project, we’re betting he’s got plenty of big things coming.
Walker Scobell as young Adam Reed
Brand new to the scene, Scobell struck gold when he signed onto The Adam Project. He’s also working on another upcoming film, Secret Headquarters starring another Hollywood great, Owen Wilson—it’s set for release later in 2022.
