The network will never be the same.

Fans of Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, rejoice! The Morning Show is returning for a second season and the shiny new trailer has just dropped.

If you cast your mind back, season one ended on a monumental cliff-hanger when Alex (Aniston) and Bradley (Witherspoon) outed the network for their shady behind-the-scenes antics. After sharing the details of a sexual misconduct involving co-anchor Mitch Kessler (Steve Carell), the broadcast cut to black. That’s where they left us.

We’ve certainly had enough time to weigh up all the different ways season two could go, but courtesy of the new trailer, we finally have a rough idea. Following the aftermath of their explosive announcement, the entire network has been thrown into chaos. Allegations of misogyny, harassment and assault have rocked the entire nation, and everything is uncertain.

From what we can tell, Alex has made the decision to leave the network, while Bradley has decided to stay. Network Executive Cory Ellison (played by Billy Crudup) is determined to get Alex back, but she seems to have no interest in returning.

Fans will be unhappy to learn that Alex and Bradley’s friendship might have reached breaking point. It seems our favourite girl duo is having a rough time dealing with the aftermath, but we’re still hoping they will find a way back to each other.

“Everything changed in a minute. The whole world changed. I thought we were a team,” Bradley angrily says to Alex in the clip.

“Honestly, Bradley, a friendship with you seems like a bountiful journey,” Alex replies sarcastically.

One of the most highly-anticipated scenes has also been hinted at, which features Julianna Margulies starring as a Diane Sawyer-like character. Sitting down for a tell-all interview with Alex, she asks her, “Do you feel the important issues have been addressed.” We can’t wait to hear Alex’s answer to that one.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Aniston reveals that this show has been quite a cathartic experience for her.

“That show was 20 years of therapy wrapped into 10 episodes,” she said. “There were times when I would read a scene and feel like a whole manhole cover was taken off my back.”

There’s no denying that the entire world went wild for the show. For the first season, the series won several awards including a SAG Award for Jennifer Aniston and an Emmy Award for Billy Crudup.

Season Two is already shaping up to be a big one, and we’re hanging on the edge of our seats to see what comes next.

The Morning Show Season 2 will premiere on September 17.
