Another Book From The Author Of ‘To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before’ Is Headed To The Screen

Meet your new obsession: 'The Summer I Turned Pretty'

We may be bidding farewell to Lara Jean (Lana Condor) and Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo) for good as the To All The Boys trilogy comes to an end this month—premiering on Netflix on Feb. 12—but author Jenny Han has the perfect cure: news of her other YA romance trilogy heading to the screen.

According to Variety the author’s novel, The Summer I Turned Pretty, is being adapted into a series for Amazon, with Han signed on to write and co-show run the eight-episode project, alongside Gabrielle Stanton, whose TV credits include Grey’s Anatomy and The Vampire Diaries.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is many years in the making, and I’m so excited to tell Belly’s story in 2021,” Han said in a statement. “For the longtime book fans, I think it will have been worth the wait. For those newly discovering the Summer series, I hope you fall in love with these characters and this place that is so dear to my heart.”

Intrigued? Below, everything we know about The Summer I Turned Pretty screen adaptation.

What Is The Summer I Turned Pretty About?

Just like To All The Boys, Han’s The Summer I Turned Pretty is a trilogy series that focuses on another teen romance. It follows Isabel “Belly” Conklin, a teen who spends summers at the beach with her mother, her brother, her mother’s best friend, and that best friend’s two (very attractive) sons. Belly gets caught up in a love triangle, and throughout the trilogywhich also includes It’s Not Summer Without You and We’ll Always Have Summer—its main characters develop from young teens to fully grown adults.

It’s not just a young romance though, with Han’s “multigenerational drama” also highlighting the relationship between mothers and their children and the power of female friendships.

And while Amazon has reportedly just signed on for this eight-episode series, if To All The Boys is any indicator, we can expect two more seasons to follow.
