The Most Regal Royal Moments From Trooping The Colour 2022

Kicking off the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in style.

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee has officially kicked off—with an array of horse drawn carriages, no less.

Trooping The Colour, held on June 2, marks the beginning of the UK’s four day bank holiday weekend in celebration of Her Majesty’s 70th reigning year (the longest of any Monarch in British history).

The annual parade is usually held on the first Saturday of June in honour of the Queen’s birthday, though this year’s event was brought forward two days in order to mark the momentous celebrations taking place for her Platinum Jubilee.

Royals from all corners of the family will attend (yes, including Harry and Meghan—though you may not see them as they’re watching from inside Buckingham Palace). All working royals pull into the Palace by horse and carriage, and this year, Kate Middleton led the procession with her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, alongside Duchess Camilla.

Of course, there’s plenty more royal watching to be done here. Keep scrolling for some of the best pictures from Trooping the Colour.

Prince George, eight, Prince Louis, four and Princess Charlotte, seven, waved to the crowds from their carriage—it marked the very first time that the three children have ridden into the Palace for the event.

To mark such a momentous occasion, it was only fitting that a sweet tribute be included—Prince Louis was wearing the very same sailor outfit worn by his father, Prince William, to Trooping the Colour in 1985.

Meanwhile Kate Middleton looked chic as ever in an all-white ensemble and matching hat.

In her own tribute, she wore beautiful blue sapphire earrings which once belonged to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

Opposite Sophie were her two children, Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn.

Ever the equestrian, Princess Anne rode horseback into the Palace.

We also couldn’t help but notice the likeness between Anne and her mother, Queen Elizabeth, whose first ever Trooping The Colour as Sovereign in 1952 was eerily similar.

As did her nephew Prince William, who rode in alongside his dad, Prince Charles.

Then, the moment we had all been waiting for. Her Majesty the Queen stepped out onto the Buckingham Palace balcony alongside her cousin Prince Edward, Duke of Kent.

For the special event, the Queen opted for a light blue ensemble with white floral detailing and a striking brooch.
