A man who filmed a 16-year-old girl being gang-raped at a party in western Sydney will serve at least five years in jail.
26-year-old Ayden Devereux, who was sentenced on Wednesday, had pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated sexual assault in company for his role in the gang rape of the teenage girl.
As AAP reports, Devereux recorded his friends sexually assaulting the female at a house party in St Clair in May 2015.
According to Nine News, a group of men repeatedly raped a girl for 17 minutes in a bedroom, as captured on a GoPro camera. In the video footage of the attack, Devereux can be heard calling out โone by one weโll all get a fโโ and โoi, wait in lineโ.
Judge Chris Hoy told the court that โthe offending behaviour is disgracefulโ. He said Devereux displayed โincreasing and ongoing enthusiasmโ while directing the girlโs other attackers, Tristan Carlyle Watson, Kurt Stevenson and Andrew Waters.
Although Judge Hoy accepted that Devereux was sorry for his actions, he declared that the man โknew full well it was vile and revolting behaviour being inflicted upon an intoxicated and motionless girlโ.
Devereux was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in jail with a non-parole period of five years.
