The VAMFF International Women’s Day Breakfast is back for another year. The event, presented by marie claire and MYER, will be held on Friday 6th March and will play host to a diverse mix of women, each celebrated for their own achievements across film, tv, climate action, peacekeeping and philanthropy.

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, whilst also marking a call to action for accelerating gender equality. The IWD Breakfast theme for 2020 is ‘Future Shapers’, seeking to explore how all generations can actively cultivate and nurture great change for the future. MYER returns to the Festival family and will co-present the International Women’s Day Breakfast with marie claire, who are celebrating 25 years of championing women in 2020.

MYER Chief Customer Officer, Geoff Ikin, said that MYER are delighted to again be partnering with VAMFF and co-hosting one of the Festival’s most anticipated event, the International Women’s Day Breakfast.

“As a company committed to supporting the Australian fashion industry and celebrating the pivotal role women play not only in the workplace, but in society as a whole, we are thrilled to be partnering with VAMFF for their International Women’s Day Breakfast, presented by marie claire,” Ikin said.

Other panellists of this year’s event include 16-year old Sydney school student, Jean Hinchliffe, who founded the Sydney contingent of School Strike 4 Climate. Australian actor,  writer, mother and student, Yael Stone, will also speak alongside retired Major Matina Jewell, whose 15-year military career earned her nine war medals across five missions will share her insights with the panel on topics such as leadership and resilience as experienced from some of the toughest environments on earth.

Finally, Amy Thunig, an academic, writer and founder of the blacademia® podcast, is a Gamilaroi woman, mother and partner who resides on the unceded lands of the Awabakal people. Together with her fellow panellists, Amy can discuss stereotypes, and how we can broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women’s achievements.
