What is House Of The Dragon about?

The series is based on George R. R. Martin’s book, Fire & Blood, published in 2018. Set three centuries before the story of Game Of Thrones, the 10-part narrative follows the origins of the House of Targaryen, shedding new insight on the lineage of the Mother of Dragons.

The House of Targaryen, the only family of dragonlords to survive the Doom of Valyria, is led by Aegon the Conqueror. We’ll watch as other generations of Targaryens fight to take up the same helm.

Will House Of The Dragon Have A Second Season?

After the series’ first episode garnered 20 million viewers worldwide, it was a no-brainer that the fantasy prequel had likely earned its stripes amongst fans. And now, the streaming networks have applauded the show, with the United Kingdom’s Sky calling the show a “ratings hit”, and creator of the show HBO claiming that the first episode had a viewership of 20 million people.

In a statement made to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO executive Francesca Orsi shared that House of the Dragon is more than just an exciting prequel, adding that it had been confirmed to return for a second season, after just one episode.

“Our phenomenal cast and crew undertook a massive challenge and exceeded all expectations, delivering a show that has already established itself as must-see-TV,” Orsi said.

“A huge thank you to co-creator and executive producer George R.R. Martin and co-creator and showrunners Ryan Condal and Miguel Saopchnik for leading us on this journey. We couldn’t be more excited to continue bringing to life the epic saga of House Targaryen with season 2.”
