Season three of Netflix’s Selling Sunset left us on somewhat of a cliffhanger, but not in the typical reality show way we’ve come to know.
It wasn’t your typical ‘what’s going to happen next?!’ kind of finale, but instead it set up the possibility of the cast members moving on with their lives, in one way or another.
Sleuthing around their social media channels and it seems that Mary Fitzgerland, Amanza Smith and Chrishell Stause are the only ones still posting their real estate listings to their Instagrams, and even photos from the office.
But though Christine Quinn already let it slip that one of the twin brokerage owners, Brett Oppenheim, had left the agency (which Jason later confirmed is not true), Chrishell has now revealed that some other stars have followed suit.
Talking to ITV’s Good Morning Britain, the 39-year-old laughed off some of the controversies, assuring that the cast are actually friendly.
“I have to say, a lot of us get along so well, it’s like a dysfunctional family,” she said.
“There is some splintering happening in the group but that’s just real life. I’m not going to sugarcoat it. We’re not all friends, we don’t always get along. But we try to.”
Then she let it slip that the “family” were no longer all together.
“Some people have left, the brokerage has split,” she admitted.
Stause, who is currently filming Dancing With The Stars, also hinted that there’s many changes fans would need to be caught up on if season four began filming.
“If the cameras picked up now, there’d be a lot to pick up on,” she said.
Her comments leave our minds (and group chats) running wild with speculation as to just which agents have officially moved on from The Oppenheim Group. Here, we lay out the most likely suspects.
Maya Vander
Throughout season three we saw Maya both grow tired of the ‘favouritism’ in the office, as well as ponder whether she should permanently relocate to Miami (where her husband is based) now that she has a second child on the way.
Now a mother to Aiden and baby Elle, Maya seems like one of the more likely agents to have left the brokerage, since she was even considering starting her own towards the finale.
Judging by her Instagram, it looks like the family are currently in Miami, further confirming our suspicions that she’s made the move from Los Angeles. But does this mean she may not return to the show? We’ll have to wait and see…
Christine Quinn
Arguably the breakout star of the show, Christine has made it no secret that she’s not entirely happy at The Oppenheim Group, and with all the connections she seems to boast, we’re sure she wouldn’t struggle to make it on her own.
The fashionable real estate agent (whose outfits continue to give us life) also seemingly alluded to the possibility of her leaving Selling Sunset after season four while in conversation with Wall Street Journal on October 5, 2020.
“The show’s obviously been doing really well,” she said.
“But it would be great to film the next season and then do my own thing because I feel like I have a lot to share with the world outside of real estate and fighting with bitches.
“Although don’t get me wrong, I love it and I’m great at it.”
However, we can’t imagine her leaving the show unless it was for her own spin-off—which apparently is very much on the cards.
Another reason we believe that Christine could have departed the brokerage is that in season three we saw her a little preoccupied with her new romance (now marriage) and the jet-setter lifestyle that it entailed. It felt that the 31-year-old began to see that there was more to life than her career.
Although, she’s definitely a woman with a purpose, and we can’t see her being satisfied with the trophy wife life.
Davina Portatz
The most controversial cast member, Davina has made a name for herself in being, shall we say, outspoken?
And her struggles with the group certainly seemed to affect her, particularly when she found out that she was not invited to co-star Mary Fitzgerald’s wedding.
But as her boss, Jason, says, we only see one part of her life, so we can’t be too quick to judge.
One thing we have clearly seen is the frustration she’s experienced as a result of Jason not permitting her to take on that $75 million (that’s $104 million AUD) listing that her client, Adnan Sen, had offered her.
Going back and forth with Jason caused her to question whether it was time to venture out on her own, seeing as she already has a broker’s license.
All of her professional struggles do make her a pretty likely candidate for moving on, however, without the drama that she seems to bring, Selling Sunset would feel a lot like every other luxury real estate show. Not to mention, one look at the brokerage’s website shows that Adnan’s listing is still on the market—meaning she was able to wear Jason down and perhaps choose to stay?
Heather Rae Young
Heather is one of the few agents who doesn’t really complain about the job. She even responded to her friend’s question about possibly joining her now ex-boyfriend in Sweden with the question, “where else could I be selling $20 million houses?”
But towards the end of season three, we saw a shift in Heather’s priorities. Finding new love and becoming a step mother to fellow realtor Tarek El Moussa’s children, the 33-year-old certainly seemed to embrace domestic life a little more.
And, with her partner based in Orange County, roughly an hour from the agency (without taking nightmare Los Angeles traffic into account), she also expressed that she was struggling to balance work and their relationship.
Since the pair recently got engaged in July, we predict that work could have less of a focus in Heather’s life but only time will tell.
