Despite all that he had been through, photos of the moment shared by the officers show the little boy, whose name the officers did not know, happy and smiling.

“We made an arrest for DUI, the one-year-old baby boy was in the backseat covered in vomit,” trooper B.R. Wood, with the Princeton detachment told the Bluefield Daily Telegraph. “The vehicle was disabled, so we brought the baby boy back.”

“He was the best little baby. He had just started to nod off when Child Protective Services arrived.”

After drying him off with a towel and finding a teddy bear for him to cuddle, one of the officers was pictured cradling the child while thy waited for child protective services.

“The baby has now been placed with a legal guardian,” added Wood. “He is safe at this time and under the supervision of CPS.”
