The 2019 Trends To Invest In According To Two Top Models

Colour is in!

They fly around the world constantly, looking good is all part of the role and they wear clothes for a living. So what do models really look for in a trend?

We sat down with two of Australia’s biggest faces, Victoria Lee and Jessica Gomes, ahead of the David Jones autumn/winter 2019 launch in Tasmania to talk all things fashion and beauty. And according to Lee and Gomes, it’s going to be a colourful season ahead.

“I’m excited to see so much more colour and print and texture and shape in the season launch,” Lee told marie claire, something Gomes echoed. “I’m loving the injection of so much colour, prints and clashing textures. I think it’s really fun! And it’s nice to step away from traditional blacks and muted, darker tones. I think have fun with your colours!”

Noting pink as a particular favourite, Lee admits she’s a recent colour convert — but has some advice on how to start small with adding pops into your wardrobe.

“I love that pink is in fashion again. Wearing pink, just a drop of pink in your outfit is [how to make it work]. I’m loving that trend — and this is coming from someone who just wears tonal colours!

The models also cite suiting — the trend that just won’t shake — as one of their favourites.

“One of my favourite pieces of the season is definitely a Bianca Spender suit. She’s done some really amazing, 80s takes on the suit, with a waist belt which I think is really cool and effortless,” Gomes says.

“I just love suiting. I always like to tap into the suiting for each season. It’s been a massive trend, but it’s really still key. A lot of Aussie designers do great suiting, like Camilla and Marc and Ellery,” recommends Lee.

When it comes to beauty, the David Jones ambassadors are adamant that it all starts from the inside out — especially when it’s hot outside.

“I have always taken the Beauty Chef. That’s something that I find easy to do. Their Glow Powder is amazing. It’s all about making yourself feel amazing on the inside, but then having amazing quality products on top of your skin. It has to be easy to use, it has to complement your lifestyle,” Lee says.

As for Gomes, who has her own beauty brand, Equal Beauty, it’s all about three steps.

“I cleanse, hydrate and protect. A great cleanser that I love is my cleansing cloth by Equal Beauty but another great cleanser I love is Dermatologica’s Exfoliant Powder, which you can get from David Jones. Then a really great hydration cream, and obviously a SPF. Skinceuticals is great for an SPF.”

So, there you have it. Models like suits and wear sunscreen. Viola!
