Rebel Wilson lost 27kg in 2020, but her goal wasnโt weight loss. Instead, the Australian actor publically announced way back in January on Instagram that 2020 would be her โYear Of Healthโ. Now, a year later, she says she wishes she kickstarted her health journey sooner.
Rebel spoke to Instyle about her health year, which she wanted to commit to after struggling with emotional eating and mental health issues. According to the actor, it wasnโt all the expensive gym equipment or fancy classes that saw her make progress, but the simple things.
โObviously, I have access to some amazing high-tech treatments, but what I learned is itโs really the little things that I do every day that make a difference,โ she told the publication.
โLike today, I went for a walk at Griffith Park [in L.A.] and thatโs free. Anyone can go on walks and drink more water and do little, consistent things thatโll improve their lives. Itโs not too late to start, no matter what age you are.โ
Rebel told Instyle that looking back, she sometimes wishes sheโd started a decade sooner.
โNow that I know I can do it, sometimes I feel sad that I didnโt do it earlier. Maybe I should have tried when I was 30, not 40. But everybodyโs journey is different, and itโs not a race or competition.โ
Not that it hasnโt been hard work. She spoke candidly about the persistence she had to have to keep going.
โโฆevery morning I was up in the gym at the hotel working out for 90 minutes before a full day of filming. But thatโs just my life now,โ she said.
Itโs always refreshing to hear celebrities acknowledge the hard work that goes into their health plans, and itโs equally refreshing to know that Rebel committed to a balanced fitness and health outlook โ the actor recently shared a picture captioned โMentally preparing for the week ahead todayโฆand eating waffles.โ
Same, Rebel. Same.
