With the premiere of this year's Bachelorette Australia with Brooke Blurton, the first bisexual leading lady in the franchise's history, creeping up quickly, former stars of the series have been expressing their excitement over the show's new direction.
One being former Bachelorette, Angie Kent.
In an interview with TV Week, she revealed that she felt as if she was “stitched-up” on her season of the show.
Kent, who is pansexual, commented on her resentment toward being “stitched up with a bunch of deeply average blokes” on her season back in 2019, instead of being given the chance to date both men and women.
“Just kidding,” she said. “I just wish I knew it was an option because I’m pansexual.”
But of course, she expressed her excitement for Blurton's upcoming season, and shared how thrilled she is to watch the franchise's first bisexual and the first Indigenous star.
“I can’t wait to watch Brooke being our first Indigenous and bisexual Bachelorette!” she added.
In the finale of Kent's season, she famously chose Carlin Sterritt to give her final rose to, however, the pair broke up not long after.
Announcing their split in July 2020, one year after filming their finale of the show, Kent revealed what really happened between the pair on the Kyle & Jackie O Show.
"We were so smitten with each other on the show, but we were so different [out in the real world]. Both of us were different," Angie told the radio duo.
"I’m always myself, but he got to see me full throttle, and I was stressed after the show too. He was very religious and had all these ideas that I should be a certain way when I wasn’t."
Blurton's season of The Bachelorette Australia is set to premiere on Network 10 on October 20.
