Australian actress and singer Olivia Newton-John has opened up about the devastating prospect of facing breast cancer—for a second time.
Newton-John was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer that has spread to her sacrum. In an exclusive statement on People, the actress said she is “grateful for and touched by the worldwide outpouring of love and concern” for her condition.
“I am feeling good and enjoying total support from my family and friends, along with a team of wellness and medical practitioners both here in the US and at my Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia,” she explained.
“I’m totally confident that my new journey will have a positive success story to inspire others! Love and light, Olivia.”
The singer first battled breast cancer in 1992.
Newton-John’s husband, John Easterling, 65, told the publication that the pair was keeping a positive attitude.
“We both have the same unshakable belief that she’s going to have a wonderful success story,” he said. “We’re not trying to be positive. We have an absolute knowingness that we can turn this around.”
The 68-year-old, who because a household name for playing Sandy in Grease, shared the news on her Facebook page in May. The singer has postponed all further dates of her U.S. and Canadian music tour to focus on her health.
The post reads, “Olivia Newton-John is reluctantly postponing her June U.S. and Canadian concert tour dates. The back pain that initially caused her to postpone the first half of her concert tour, has turned out to be breast cancer that has metastasized to the sacrum.”

In addition to natural wellness therapies, Olivia will complete a short course of photon radiation therapy and is confident she will be back later in the year, better than ever, to celebrate her shows,” it continues.
“I decided on my direction of therapies after consultation with my doctors and natural therapists and the medical team at my Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia,” the star said.
The post also said that Olivia’s main focus at this time is on her treatment and healing.
