On Australia Day in 2009, Susan Neill-Fraser and her partner, Bob Chappell, were travelling board their on-board their yacht, Four Winds, on the Derwent River off Hobart.
But Bob Chappell disappeared off the yacht moored near Sandy Bay and his body was never found, the Mercury reports.
Although there was no murder weapon, no body and no witness, Susan was charged with her partner’s murder. In 2010, a jury unanimously found Susan guilty of killing Bob and she was sentenced to 23-years in jail.
Explosive new evidence will air on Sunday Night on Channel Seven that may shed new light on the case. The program hints that they will present evidence that shows there was someone else on the boat.
Susan and her family always protested that she was innocent.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that mum is innocent,” Sue’s daughter, Sarah Bowles, says in a teaser for Sunday Night.
“It’s one of Australia’s biggest miscarriage of justice cases since Lindy Chamberlain.
“The truth’s going to come out.”
The 62-year-old has served about seven years of her sentence, the ABC reports.
Her most recent appeal for freedom—in the form of an appeal hearing—has been adjourned indefinitely by the Supreme Court in Hobart.
