Locky Gilbert and Irena Srbinovska may have walked off into the sunset after The Bachelor Australia finale, but many sceptical viewers have expressed doubts over the couple lasting. And one of those sceptics? Former contestant Maddy Carver.
Appearing on Hit Hobart’s radio program Jimmy & Nath, the 25-year-old school teacher voiced concerns over whether Locky and Irena’s romance was genuine and even shared that she “can’t see them getting married.”
But it’s not because Irena—who Locky dubbed his “future wife and baby mamma”—is not a catch, but rather she believes that Locky may struggle with the monogamy aspect of a relationship post-Bachelor.
“Locky had all these girls’ attention inside the mansion,” she said.
“It would be really hard to go back to life just having one girl, don’t you think?”
And as for all the drama that ensued between Irena and runner-up Bella Varelis? Well, Maddy doesn’t think that the 31-year-old nurse had anything to do with it.
“I honestly don’t think Irena has a bad bone in her body,” she said.
“She was the mother of the house. She was the one that was cleaning, she was the one that was cooking.”
Maddy even revealed that Irena would take care of anyone who wasn’t feeling well in the mansion.
“The nights that some people didn’t feel well she’d be ‘nurse Irena’, and she’d get out her medical kit… giving people Panadol if they needed it,” she added.
Maddy made it to Locky’s top eight this season, despite never having had a single date or much one-on-one time together at all.
The comments regarding his Lothario ways come after a slew of people, including Married At First Sight star Aleks Markovic and former Bachelorette Angie Kent, have taken swipes at Gilbert for allegedly getting his flirt on with girls outside of the mansion during his time as The Bachelor.
Many people speculated that the finale would end in a breakup after mounting evidence that Locky was currently single.
But we suppose we’ll just have to wait and see…
