Whether you’re an aloof Aquarius or a dreamy Pisces, if your birthday falls in the month of February, then your birthstone is amethyst. Associated with peace, calm, emotional balance, clarity, and inner strength, the gemstone is evocative of an energy that we wish could be bottled.
Thankfully, Bulgari has done just that with the brand’s newest fragrance, which revisits and reinvigorates a timeless classic: Bvlgari Omnia Amethyste eau de parfum.
There’s something curious about gemstones and fragrance: neither necessarily gives everything away at first encounter. A flash of colour catches the eye; a particular scent might spark a memory. Look – or smell – a little closer and the details tell a different story.

What does an amethyst smell like?
In Bvlgari’s Omnia Amethyste eau de parfum, it’s iris that invites a closer look. Master perfumer Alberto Morillas takes a note best known for its powdery elegance and expands on that familiar character, using rose, ambrette and vanilla to bring welcome warmth, softness and depth.
It is a reminder that iris has far more range than its “pretty” reputation suggests. Much like a stone in a new setting, changing what surrounds it can reveal an entirely different side.
In revisiting the original Omnia Amethyste as an eau de parfum, Morillas has done more than simply turn up the intensity. Iris remains the defining note, but the way it’s framed has shifted, bringing its richer qualities to the fore. It’s a subtle distinction, but an interesting one: concentration doesn’t have to mean more of the same.
Amethyst runs right through the fragrance, from the rich purple tones of the bottle to the violet nuances of iris itself. The stone also draws a natural connection to Bvlgari’s jewellery heritage. And there’s something apt about the overlap: scent and jewellery may appeal to different senses, but both are ultimately chosen to be worn close.
