When it comes to eyeshadows, choosing colours can be tricky, especially if you're wanting your eye colour to pop. And for our brown-eyed beauties out there, the hue may be the most common—but it's by far the most fun to work with.

While finding colours that perfectly compliment brown eyes can feel daunting, relax, because it doesn't have to be.

There are eyeshadows out there to suit every eye colour, and remember that there is no hard or fast rule when it comes to makeup—wear whatever you like, beauty is meant to encourage self-confidence no matter the product or method.

For all those lucky enough to sport a pair of rich, chocolate brown eyes, there's a whole colour wheel of hues that are built to draw attention to your iris' and highlight them in the best way possible.

"Good news for our brown eyed besties, brown eyes are considered neutral so you can wear everything," Elyse Reneau, Executive Global Beauty Director at Too Faced tells marie claire Australia.

And while brown-eyed beauties have the entire spectrum to play with, Reneau believes that there are a certain set of hues that are perfect for adding dimension to the tiny specks of lighter colours in the eye.

"Brown eyes look beautiful with shades of purple and plums and gold to bring out the natural flecks a lot of brown eyes have," she suggests.

"You can always figure out which shades are complimentary by going old school and looking at a colour wheel choosing the shade family across from your eye colour," she advises. And of course, as she already predicted, the colour opposite brown on the wheel are lilacs and purples.
