Last year Taylor Swift and her squad stole the show at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Since then the 'Bad Blood' singer has feuded with Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West and broken-up with her then-beau and 2016 nominee, Calvin Harris.
This year, the question on everyone's mind is, where is Taylor? A fair question since just yesterday she was spotted working out in N.Y.C. (The same city as the VMAs!)
"Taylor was never scheduled to attend the VMAs," People reports.
Swift, whose last album dropped in November 2014, was not nominated for any awards this year – well, not technically. The track she 'secretly' co-wrote with Harris, 'This Is What You Came For' won Best Male Video. Taylor was also rumoured to have sung back-up vocals on the song.
This is what the Scottish DJ had to say in his video acceptance speech:
Wow! Wow! First of all, I'm so sorry I can't be there, I have a show tonight in the UK or else I would definitely be there. MTV, this is crazy. I need to thank Rihanna from the bottom of my heart. You're a superstar, every time we work together you bring something magical to the project so thank you. Emil Nava the director you're a legend, you're my favorite man on earth, thank you for everything you've done for me. And everybody who supported this song, who watched the video, I love you so much. Thank you. This is amazing. I love you. Thank you, MTV.
