The Best Celebrity Reactions To Joe Biden’s Win In The 2020 U.S. Presidential Election

America has finally chosen their next President

While the world processes the results from 2020 U.S. Presidential Election, the race to the finish line was as nail-biting as many had predicted.

And as of November 7, the election between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Joe Biden finally came to a close, with American citizens choosing Joe Biden to serve as their 46th President.

In a first for the United States, Kamala Harris—the daughter of Jamaican and Indian parents—will serve as the country’s first ever female and Indian-American vice president.

While his road to victory took off on a rocky start—thanks to Trump’s ‘red mirage’—his chances of reaching the necessary electoral college votes became a reality when he won the historically Republican swing states of Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota.

But of course, it wasn’t until he secured the state of Pennsylvania that took his votes from 264 to over 270, ultimately winning the election.

After an incredibly close race, that kept the world holding their breath for what felt like weeks, Biden’s bid for presidency saw the highest voter turn-out in U.S. history and saw him earn the most votes for any U.S. presidential candidate ever.

With life altering issues at stake—including climate change, race relations and abortion rights, among others—the 2020 election proved how influential the power of voting can be.

Chrissy Teigen, Michelle Obama, Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Lopez are just some of many famous figures taking to social media to express all kinds of relief, joy and hope over the Democratic Party’s win.

Below, we’ve rounded up the best celebrity reactions to Biden and Harris’ victory.

“Today is a monumental day. No matter what side you are on, let’s take a moment to recognize how far women have come in this country. Thinking about all those who shattered glass ceilings and paved the way for a woman to * finally * be Vice President of the United States makes me so emotional. Sojourner Truth. Harriet Tubman. Shirley Chisholm. Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Kamala Harris. I salute them all. And to the young girls of our nation… DREAM BIG. Anything is possible. 🇺🇸” (Credit: @reesewitherspoon)

“History made. Yes, celebrate this victory, and the fact that Democracy worked! But, so much work to do, considering how many people voted for what Trump represents. This fight for a better, decent, kind America isn’t over. Those who voted for Trump will find another version of him, within the next 4 years, who will encourage their racist, homophobic, transphobic, Islamaphobic beliefs. Let’s not be fooled in to believing that things are now done. There are bigger issues still bubbling just below the surface. But, today, America really does feel like it can be Great again!” (Credit: @tanfrance)
