Since the first COVID-19 case was contracted in the ACT seven weeks ago, 106 people became infected with the virus and sadly three lives were lost.

“It is important to stress we should still protect the good work we have done,” said ACT Chief Health Officer Dr. Kerryn Coleman Dr Coleman in a media statement.

“Even though we have no active cases at the moment, it’s vitally important that we continue testing as many people with symptoms as possible to know the most accurate representation of COVID-19 within the ACT.”

Over 8,600 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the ACT and Dr. Coleman says Canberra is now in a position to test anybody with symptoms.

Across the rest of Australia, the struggle against COVID-19 continues. As of 6am on 30 April 2020, there have been 6,746 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Australia including an additional eight new cases since 6am yesterday, reports data released by The Australian Department of Health. In Australia, the virus has claimed 89 lives to date.
