For Maison FRED’s 90th anniversary, “The Sunshine Jeweller” unveils the dazzling third and final chapter of its Monsieur Fred High Jewellery trilogy: Monsieur Fred Golden Light, an ode to the magical and ephemeral nature of light.

Renowned for infusing his jewellery creations with joy and vitality, founder Fred Samuel devoted his life to capturing the brilliance of light through an exceptional palette of coloured gemstones. His fascination with luminosity became a defining pillar of the Maison’s identity, transforming precious stones into expressions of emotion, movement and joie de vivre.

Following the introspective radiance of Monsieur Fred Inner Light and the vibrant hues of Monsieur Fred Ideal Light, this concluding chapter celebrates the first blush of morning, when the darkness of night gives way to the golden rays of the rising sun.

Inspired by the Riviera landscapes that held a special place in Fred Samuel’s ideation, Monsieur Fred Golden Light follows the sun’s journey across five thematic chapters. From the pale wash of moonlight on the Mediterranean to the molten gold glow of sunrise, each creation captures a different expression of nature’s most fleeting spectacle.

The collection opens with Moonlight Reflection, an evocation of Cannes after dark, where a star-strewn sky is mirrored by the luminous waters of the Mediterranean. To recreate this dreamlike tableau, FRED wields diamonds with tanzanite across four High Jewellery creations. Cut from the same rough stone and fashioned into emerald cuts, the gems reveal deep blue tones infused with violet flashes, capturing the serene warmth of a summer night’s final glow.

The journey continues with Promising Dawn, inspired by the first light over the French village of Èze, where the horizon becomes a canvas of colour and possibility. Vibrant Australian opals and Colombian emeralds recreate this fleeting moment of renewal. Crafted using the delicate doublet technique, the opals required six months of refinement before being assembled into a marquetry of hypnotic, kaleidoscopic reflections, a testament to the Maison’s exceptional savoir-faire.

Crystalline Joy transforms the ever-changing blues and greens of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat’s waters into extraordinary tourmaline compositions, while Blooming Senses celebrates the golden radiance of Grasse’s mimosa flowers, embodying the optimism and joie de vivre of the Riviera.

At the heart of the collection lies its ultimate masterpiece: the first-ever High Jewellery creation featuring Maison FRED’s legendary Soleil d’Or diamond. Discovered in 1977, this exceptional yellow diamond of more than 100 carats became a symbol of the Maison’s expertise in coloured gemstones before returning to FRED’s heritage collection in 2021. Now, its intense golden brilliance illuminates a magnificent necklace, taking centre stage as a detachable brooch.

More than a jewel, the Soleil d’Or represents a legacy carried through generations, a stone that embodies Fred Samuel’s belief that every gemstone holds an inner light waiting to be revealed. As the Monsieur Fred trilogy reaches its luminous conclusion, Golden Light celebrates FRED’s heritage while heralding a new chapter for the Maison: a continuing pursuit of colour, creativity and the enduring art of joie de vivre.
