In a move set to shake up the luxury fashion landscape, Loewe has announced that Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez—the visionary duo behind Proenza Schouler—are stepping in as co-creative directors.

After stepping down from their namesake brand in mid January, rumours of a Loewe pivot were swirling around Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, with speculation amplified once Jonathan Anderson’s own departure was confirmed just last week.

The esteemed appointment, effective April 7, 2025, marks a significant new era for the Spanish house, following Anderson’s ground-breaking tenure.

McCollough and Hernandez’s credentials speak for themselves. After meeting at Parsons School of Design, the pair co-founded Proenza Schouler and quickly cemented their place in the industry’s upper echelons, amassing multiple CFDA ‘Designer of the Year’ and ‘Accessories of the Year’ awards.

Their ability to blend artistry with craftsmanship has redefined modern fashion – making them a natural fit for Loewe, a house with a 179-year legacy of innovation.

“We are incredibly honoured to join Loewe, a House whose values and mission align closely with our own,” McCollough and Hernandez said in a joint statement.

“We look forward to working alongside its extraordinary teams and artisans, whose talent—under the exceptional creative direction of Jonathan Anderson—has shaped Loewe into the cultural force it is today.”

Anderson’s decade-long tenure saw Loewe skyrocket into one of the most influential brands of the era, blending experimental silhouettes, artful leatherwork, and a cerebral approach to design.

His departure leaves behind an extraordinary legacy – one that McCollough and Hernandez now inherit and are expected to evolve with their own distinct perspective.

Pascale Lepoivre, Loewe’s CEO, expressed excitement about the transition: “Their vision and creativity are a perfect match for the codes of the house that we have built, and I am excited to see them shape its future.”

Sidney Toledano, Chairman and CEO of LVMH Fashion Group, echoed this sentiment, calling them a “natural choice to build the next chapter for Loewe.”

With Loewe now firmly established as both a luxury powerhouse and a cultural force, all eyes will be on McCollough and Hernandez to see how they reinterpret the house’s codes. If their track record at Proenza Schouler is any indication, the future of Loewe is in for an exciting future.
