Louis Vuitton’s runways are typically a star-studded affair, and the house’s Cruise 27 runway — held at the Frick Collection in New York — was no different.
Situated along Central Park on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, the Frick is housed in one of the city’s last great Gilded Age mansions, and its historic first-floor galleries were activated for a fashion show for the very first time. It was a setting that felt cosmically aligned with Louis Vuitton artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière’s longstanding obsession with architecture and history.
Over the past three seasons, the designer has made a habit of choosing venues where the walls do as much talking as the clothes from the 17th-century Borromeo Palace on Italy’s Isola Bella for Cruise 2024, Barcelona’s Gaudí-designed, UNESCO World Heritage-listed Park Güell for Cruise 2025, and the Palais des Papes in Avignon — seat of the papacy until 1377 — for Cruise 2026 (Louis Vuitton the first fashion house to mount a runway there). The Frick, with its Renaissance masterworks and Gilded Age grandeur, slots neatly into that lineage. Fittingly, Ghesquière’s collection was inspired by the maison’s own history, fusing the shapes of 1930s leather suitcases with graphic marker drawings by ’80s pop artist Keith Haring.
The cast of models featured Alana Haim and Scarlett White — daughter of Jack White and Karen Elson — along with actor Ewan McGregor’s daughter Esther McGregor, against a backdrop of works by masters like Jean-Honoré Fragonard and Johannes Vermeer. Several models sporting dip-dyed hair that nodded to the house’s newest ambassador, double Olympic gold medallist Alysa Liu, whose signature striped hair has become as iconic as her skating. The 20-year-old had made her own Louis Vuitton moment just weeks prior, arriving at the 2026 Met Gala in a strapless burgundy custom Louis Vuitton gown.
As usual, the front row sparkled. Zendaya, who has been a house ambassador since 2023, arrived in a dove grey mini dress with a sweeping neckline. Her left hand was carefully obscured, covering her new wedding band as she posed for photos. Zendaya was joined by a strong Australian cohort, including Cate Blanchett and Lara Worthington, along with Anne Hathaway, Emma Stone, Chase Infiniti and Madeleine Argy.
