When is the 2021 Met Gala?

This year’s Met Gala will be held on Monday, September 13. If you somehow forget that, you probably won’t need reminding—the inevitable flood of red carpet images across social media will jog your memory.

Where will the 2021 Met Gala be held?

As usual, The Costume Institute Benefit will be hosted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Interestingly, this year’s exhibition will be in two-parts given last year’s annual Gala was cancelled due to COVID-19.

What is the theme of the 2021 Met Gala?

This year’s theme is, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”. It will be a celebration of the talent and creatives from the United States who have made a lasting impression on fashion.

The curator in charge of the Costume Institute, Andrew Bolton, told Vogue: “The main one was the fact that the American fashion community has been supporting us for 75 years, really since the beginning of the Costume Institute, so I wanted to acknowledge its support, and also to celebrate and reflect upon American fashion.”

Who is on the guest list of the 2021 Met Gala?

While the guest list remains top secret, there’s rumours of a refreshingly mixed celebrity set touted to attend.

Page Six claims familiar faces including Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna will be present (no surprises there). But there are also several newcomers who’ve apparently got the invite—these include TikTok stars Emma Chamberlain and Addison Rae, as well as singer Camila Cabello and Olympian Allyson Felix.

While there are plenty of other veteran guests including model Kate Moss and actress Selma Hayek who’d usually be guaranteed an invite, it’s unlikely they’ll attend due to current international travel restrictions.

Who will host the 2021 Met Gala?

A panel of inspiring young stars will host the event this year: Celebrated 19-year-old singer Billie Eilish, 25-year-old actor Timothée Chalamet, 23-year-old tennis player Naomi Osaka and 23-year-old poet and activist, Amanda Gorman.

When will the 2021 Met Gala exhibits open?

Part one of the exhibit, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” will open on September 18, 2021 in the Anna Wintour Costume Center.

The second part, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” will open on May 5, 2022.
