Naked dressing has long been a fixture on red carpets with the sheer trends of recent runway seasons inciting a new wave of glamorous looks in recent years. Every so often a look pushes the boundaries, and at the 2026 Grammy Awards, that accolade fell to Chappell Roan.
Nominated for Record Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance in 2026, the ‘Pink Pony Club’ singer returned to the awards ceremony, following her win for Best New Artist last year.
Not known to shy away from daring looks,Chappell took to the red carpet in a sheer custom Mugler dress with built-in nipple rings.

The translucent burgundy gown was first adorned with a matching, floor-length cape attached at the neck under a gold, embellished choker. Shortly after taking to the carpet, ‘The Subway’ songstress shed the outer layer to leave the delicate gown clipped and hung from, well, Chappell’s nipples. Or so it appeared. On closer inspection it appears the dress came complete with faux nipples, and frankly, we’re grateful on behalf of Roan’s real nipples.
The look reflected a similar sheer, nipple-accessorised style seen on the brand’s Spring 2026 runway. It’s not the first time the designer has featured such a silhouette on their catwalk, with an almost identical to Roan’s look in their 1998 Spring collection.

The dress also featured a low back and a long train, shown off with a massive, medieval-inspired back tattoo when Roan turned around.
Roan continues to turn to the archives when it comes to red carpet dressing. At the 2025 Grammy awards she donned Jean Paul Gaultier spring 2003 couture look which featured a cool blue and canary yellow tulle adorned with an illustration of the late master painter Edgar Degas’s “Dancer With a Bouquet.”
