There’s no red carpet quite like the MTV VMAs, and at the 2026 awards, no one’s arrival is more anticipated than Taylor Swift.
The ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ singer confirmed her attendance at this year’s ceremony following the surprise announcement of her extended album release, The Life Of The Showgirl: The Encore.
Among the four new tracks was the single ‘Patient Zero’, whose music video will premiere at today’s MTV VMA awards. Swift gave a short teaser of the video featuring Hollywood stars Colin Farrell and Dakota Johnson in an eerily gothic setting that looks much more like a Tortured Poets Department track than Life of a Showgirl.
As for her 2026 red carpet look, Swift sparkled in a Tamara Ralph Couture look from the brand’s Fall/Winter 2026 runway and was styled by Joseph Cassell Falconer, who has been behind many of the singer’s recent ensembles.
The gown consisted of a black high-neck halter cut in a figure-hugging silhouette that then transformed into a glittering silver skirt asymmetrically draped from the sculptural hips.
The look was complete with equally dazzling silver jewels, and more notably, Swift donned her original engagement ring from husband, Travis Kelce, after fans noticed the winger wearing a different ring in the images for her new album release.
The ‘Karma’ singer’s relationship with the MTV VMAs is almost as long-running as her career. Since making her 2008 debut in a flirty Kaufman mini dress, Swift’s red carpet style has undergone quite the Easter-egg-laden evolution. From the soft silhouettes of her Fearless era to the edgy, darker ensembles of Tortured Poets, Swifties have long relished the star’s looks.
In 2019, her Versace blazer dress marked a strong return to the VMAs after four years away, while her 2022 Oscar de la Renta mini became an elaborate Midnights teaser that fans initially interpreted as a Reputation Easter egg.
