Nicole Kidman’s return to the Primetime Emmy Awards for the 2026 ceremony in Los Angeles has been nine years in the making. And the Television Academy, specifically the evening’s host Mariska Hargitay, let the Practical Magic actress know it (but more on that later).
Kidman took to the red carpet at the Peacock Theatre on Monday, US time, in an elegant white Chanel midi dress with a defined waist, thigh-high split and feather-trimmed sweetheart neckline.
Completing the look, the actress kept her accessories simple and understated but still devastatingly glamorous with earrings and a ring from Chanel’s High Jewellery collection as well as an Omega watch.
Her signature strawberry blonde locks were swept into a loose updo, leaving her face to be perfectly framed by textured curtain bangs.

Kidman’s Emmy Awards appearance and return to the ceremony after a long hiatus, comes off the back of her role in the hit Apple TV series, Margo’s Got Money Troubles. Her role in the show as well as being an executive producer, landed the actress with a nomination in the Outstanding Comedy Series category.
Her well-documented absence from the Emmys didn’t go unchecked. In her opening monologue, Hargitay poked fun at Kidman and borrowed her now-iconic cinema monologue, which saw the Babygirl actress interrupt, saying “that’s my part”.
The Law & Order star quipped back: “Zip it, movie lady. It’s TV’s turn tonight.”
The last time Kidman appeared at the Emmy’s she took home the award Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for her role in Big Little Lies.
“I want [my girls] to know sometimes when you’re acting you get a chance to bring a bigger message. And this is their contribution and your contribution,” she said in her acceptance speech.
