The AFL Grand Final is finally on the horizon, with back-to-back premiers Brisbane Lions set to face off against the Fremantle Dockers this Saturday afternoon. Before the season reaches its crescendo, however, the Brownlow Medal serves as its glittering precursor, with Melbourne’s Crown Palladium playing host tonight to a litany of the AFL’s brightest stars, who descended upon the red carpet with their partners in tow.
The ceremony honours individual excellence within the AFL, recognising the league’s standout players and awarding its most coveted accolade, the Brownlow Medal. Last year, it was clinched by Matt Rowell of the Gold Coast Suns who won with a historic tally of 39 votes.
In recent years, the evening has become almost as synonymous with its red carpet as it is with the medal. And while the players suit and boot up à la the black tie dress code, it’s the WAG’s (wives and girlfriends) who truly indulge in the evening’s dialled up glamour.
In the Brownlow’s of bygone years we have been treated to a slew of memorable fashion moments. Think Rebecca Judd’s plunging crimson Tarvydas gown in 2004 and Leanne Tucker’s whimsical sheer lace dress in 2006 or even last year’s gown of elaborate, grey plumage worn by Charlie Wheeler.
Among tonight’s standouts were Brownlow regular Annalise Dalins who opted for a gown by Alin Le’Kal, and Mardi Dangerfield who arrived in a glittering peplum ballgown fashioned from pressed jacquard.
And while tonight’s Brownlow Medal draws to a close, the AFLW’s Best and Fairest is already waiting in the wings, with its own red carpet spectacle just around the corner and set to be every bit as captivating (if not more so).
Ahead, we have rounded up our favourite looks from the 2026 Brownlow Medal red carpet.
