Grab Your Girlfriends, A Second Season Of ‘Firefly Lane’ Is Officially On Its Way

Tully and Kate are back!

For those who spent the early months of this year binge-watching the entirety of Firefly Lane—and hosting many vino nights with the girls—Netflix’s hit series quickly became a friendship placeholder until some could congregate with their nearest and dearest once more.

Since the streaming giant’s hit series dropped on February 3, 2021, the internet has become infatuated with childhood friends Tully and Kate, thanks to its comparisons to Sweet Magnolias and This Is Us.

And while, the show’s first season only recently debuted on our screens, fans no longer have to wonder if a reunion with the dynamic duo would be on the horizon.

On May 26, Firefly Lane stars Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke announced that their hit Netflix series had been renewed for a second season. The pair shared the news while answering questions from fans with Netflix.

“How long do I have to wait for season 2 of Firefly Lane?” a fan’s question read, Heigl then turned to Sarah and announced the news.

“I don’t know if you’re getting this as much as I am, but anywhere I go, ‘Is there gonna be a season 2?’…You know, I’m just like, ‘Guys… yes!’” Heigl announced.

“There’s gonna be a season 2!” added Chalke. “We don’t have all the answers yet, but trust us, it is going to be worth the wait. And we promise all of your questions will be answered.”

In a press release, Netflix announced that the highly-anticipated return of Tully and Kate will occur in 2022, and they will “reprise their roles as lifelong best friends facing the ultimate test of their friendship and the path to sustain the other relationships in their lives.”

And during an April interview with The Talk, Chalke opened up about her hopes for season two, especially after that cliffhanger season finale. For those who have forgotten, the final moments of season one saw Kate and Tully’s relationship fall apart, with Kate refusing to interract with her best friend of 30 years, however, fans were never told the reason why.

“We’ve got to find out what happened with Tully and Kate, like why are they not speaking, a friendship that was so unbreakable?” Chalke stated. “Is Johnny [Ben Lawson] still alive? I hope we get to go, if we get to do it again, [go] into the ’90s, get some Doc Martens and some flannel going on.”

While fans eagerly await the second season, you can rewatch season one of Firefly Lane on Netflix here.
