Looking for something else?

If you’re after a personalised gift for Father’s Day but unsure what to get, then you could try buying him an experience instead. Alex Bruce-Smith, marie claire‘s digital editor, has the classic dad who’s impossible to buy for (the best present she ever got him was IKEA chopping boards, because he didn’t have any). This year, she took him to six-course tasting menu at 6HEAD, in Sydney’s historic Rocks precinct. “He loved it so much he called me the next morning to say thank you,” Alex said. When booked via RedBalloon, the six course sharing menu plus a bottle of wine is $249 — very reasonable for the quality of food and an evening with the man Alex says she calls for “any and all things accounting, tax, car, and handyman-related advice”. (Not based in Sydney? Check out RedBalloon’s Father’s Day gift ideas here.)
