Katharine McPhee has shared the ultimate throwback with Meghan Markle. Taking to Instagram, the two young actresses smile in stage makeup, including bright red lipstick, as they pose for the shot during their theatre days together.
McPhee is currently in London starring in the West End production of Waitress, a role she previously played on Broadway, and couldn’t help but share her royal connection. “Both did musicals together as a kid. one is now the duchess and the other is starring on the west end. basically the same life if you ask me,” the American Idol alum captioned the post, adding the hashtag #tbt.

The Duchess of Sussex returned to her stage routes on Wednesday, making her first public outing at the National Theatre in London, three weeks after it was announced she had adopted it as one of her four royal patronages. Meghan, despite being well-known for her role on the hit legal series Suits, she did her training in theatre and is a double major in theatre and international relations from Northwestern University.
The royal mum-to-be “is a strong believer in using the arts to bring people from different backgrounds and communities together, and this first official visit to The National Theatre will explore the work they do, as well as meeting some of the talented teams and apprentices working behind the scenes,” her royal page states.

McPhee isn’t the only Hollywood connection Meghan has. During an interview with Access Hollywood, Mandy Moore was surprised with a picture of herself alongside Meghan, to which she explained that Meghan’s ex-husband Trevor Engelson was a producer on the 2007 rom-com License to Wed, in which Moore starred alongside Robin Williams and John Krasinski.
“Her ex-husband was a producer on a movie that I worked on, so I met her back in 2006 and spent a lot of time with them, a lot of time with her, and she is a lovely, generous woman,” she said.
