During a recent appearance on Lights Out With David Spade, the former Disney star opened up about her hopes for a reunion with the Plastics.

“I should probably get back to doing movies at some point,” she said. “I think I was hanging on to Mean Girls for a really long time. I wanted to come back with a Mean Girls 2.”

“To work with Tina Fey and the whole crew again and Mark Waters,” the 33-year-old continued. “That was really what I wanted. I was excited to do that.”

Though Lohan, who played the lead role of Cady Heron, is aware that the much-needed sequel may not be possible just yet.

Tina Fey, who wrote the screenplay and starred in the film, is currently busy working on a movie adaption of her much-loved Broadway musical.

The 2004 coming-of-age flick made its stage debut in 2018 and in January, it was announced that the Tony-nominated production is set to undergo the silver screen treatment.

“I’m very excited to bring Mean Girls back to the big screen,” Fey confirmed in an official statement.

“It’s been incredibly gratifying to see how much the movie and the musical have meant to audiences,” she continued. “I’ve spent 16 years with these characters now. They are my Marvel Universe and I love them dearly.”

But Lohan won’t give up hope, as the actress revealed back in 2016 that she has even penned a treatment for the sequel.

“I would love to have Jamie Lee Curtis [and] Jimmy Fallon in the movie,” she said. “I’ve already written a treatment for it, so I just need a response.”

Someone give Fey a call, already.
