Just when you thought you’d seen it all, the good people of Instagram have dreamt up another unthinkably bizarre #trend for us to try: avocado proposals.
Food stylist Food Deco is responsible for taking the (Western) world’s obsession with avocado off the brunch table and smack bang into the wedding industry. They posted the below photo on Valentine’s Day:
And it almost instantly went viral, attracting thousands of comments and over 10k likes.

“Nothing would make me happier than someone putting a ring in an avocado and proposing to me!” said another with questionable life priorities.

It gets better: as Refinery29 points out, an actual company exists for the sole purpose of customising avocados, for proposals or otherwise. Here’s just one example of the glowing praise on their website:
“I wanted something unique to help propose to my girlfriend, but couldn’t find the right thing… until I heard about customavocados.com!” they write. “I had personalised messages printed on avocados, leading her to the final one asking her to marry me.”
“After the proposal, we had delicious snacks for days.”
