Kim Kardashian is set to play the villain in the new live-action Bratz movie from Amazon MGM.
According to first reports by Deadline, the rights to the Bratz movie were recently acquired by the studio with Kim Kardashian and Picturestart attached to produce.
While details remain under wraps for now, the Skims mogul is reportedly being eyed to take on the villain role in the upcoming project, alongside her producing duties.
The Bratz movie follows on from the success of 2023’s billion-dollar-blockbuster Barbie, which opened the doors to a plethora of playful projects such as the Polly Pocket movie, Ayo Edebiri’s Barney movie and even a contemporary take on Matchbox Cars.
Kardashian, who’s acting credits already include her role as Siobhan in American Horror Story: Delicate, most recently joined the upcoming Ryan Murphy legal drama All’s Fair.
Cast as Allura Grant, the high-powered divorce lawyer who leads an all-female law firm in Los Angeles, Kardashian will star alongside an all-star cast including the likes of Naomi Watts, Sarah Paulson, Glenn Close and Teyana Taylor.
Despite her newly-acquired legal qualifications (Kim recently passed the Bar), and previous acting experience, critics were quick to voice their condemnation for the casting. But it was the subsequent move by her co-star, Paulson to put the bulk of the negative press to rest, when she sang Kardashian’s paises: “I think it is absolutely time for people to take Kim Kardashian seriously as an actress,” Sarah Paulson told Yahoo! Entertainment in October 2024. “She was absolutely excellent in American Horror Story: Delicate.”
But Paulson is far from the only actor to speak highly of Kim Kardashian and her dedication to the craft. Emma Roberts, who starred alongside Kardashian in AHS, told Extra “I mean, she’s amazing. She’s a pro,” she said. “She’s one of the most prepared people I’ve ever worked with, and she’s just chill. I love her so much.”
Not to be confused with the 2007 movie Bratz, the latest live-action adaptation will likely lean into learnings from Barbie, offering fans a fresh take on the million-dollar franchise.
Updates to come.
