NEED TO KNOW
- Married At First Sight Australia is facing a police investigation after a groom alleged that producers shared private information about him with his on-screen bride.
- NSW Police confirmed a report was made in August, with the matter reportedly set to be referred to WA Police.
- The investigation comes as season 14 films ahead of its expected early 2027 release, with no confirmed changes to the show’s broadcast schedule.
The upcoming season of Married At First Sight Australia (MAFS), which is slated for release in early 2027, is currently under police investigation.
The reality show, which is currently filming its 14th season, became the centre of a police enquiry when one of the grooms lodged a complaint with authorities back in August, claiming the production company “shared private information” about him with his on-screen bride.
Police confirmed to BBC that a “report of inappropriate content being shared” had been made.
Meanwhile, Chanel Nine, the media company that broadcasts the show, said it was “aware of a police investigation” into the production company.
“We are aware of a police investigation involving Endemol Shine Australia and all enquiries should be directed to them,” a spokesperson for Nine told news.com.au.

Why Is MAFS Being Investigated By Police?
According to reports from Australian television industry publication TV Blackbox, the complaint was made by a male contestant who alleged that producers shared private information about him with his on-screen bride.
The information is reportedly connected to a previous relationship, although the exact nature of the material allegedly shared has not been publicly confirmed by police.
In a statement to the BBC, NSW Police confirmed that officers from the South Sydney Police Area Command commenced an investigation on Monday, August 24, 2026, following a report of inappropriate content being shared.
“Following inquiries, the matter will be referred to WA Police Force,” a police spokesperson told the publication.
As of October 23rd, Western Australia Police told news.com.au it “believes[s] NSW Police are referring a matter to the WA Police Force, but at this time it has not been received.”
Production company Endemol Shine Australia has not publicly commented on the allegations.
What Does The Investigation Mean For MAFS 2027?
The investigation comes as the upcoming season of Married At First Sight Australia prepares for its expected return in early 2027.
While the police inquiry has raised questions about how private information is handled during production, authorities have not publicly detailed the circumstances surrounding the complaint or confirmed whether any laws have been breached.
For now, it remains unclear whether the investigation will affect the production or broadcast schedule of the upcoming season. Neither Nine nor Endemol Shine Australia has announced any changes to the show’s planned release.
