With Married at First Sight and Farmer Wants A Wife having wrapped, you might have found yourself with a great, big dating-show-shaped hole in your life.
If that’s the case fear not. Not only do the team at Channel Seven have a new show for us to dive into, but they’re upped the ante with a format they have billed as “the most radical and extreme dating experience ever seen on television.”
The network’s new series, Stranded On Honeymoon Island has finally been released, after it was initially due to debut in 2024 (more on that here). Based on a pre-existing Danish format, Honeymoon Island’s Australian iteration is being produced by none other than Endemol Shine Australia—aka the team behind MAFS—so it’s guaranteed to be a juicy watch, if anything.
Scroll on for everything we know about the reality show so far.
What Is Stranded On Honeymoon Island?
Inline with most modern dating shows, Stranded On Honeymoon Island features “12 unlucky singles” looking for love.
The show begins with a speed dating event, where participants are paired off and married (yes, married). But unlike MAFS, they don’t retreat to a comfortable life at Skye Suites. Rather, the newlyweds are dropped on a tropical island with nothing but their wedding gear, a fruit basket and a bed, where they remain for three whole weeks.
As Channel Seven explains, the idea is that: “Removed from all modern dating obstacles, with no devices, no distractions, and nowhere to hide, these brave couples will live and breathe their new relationship.”
The teaser trailer for the debut season featured several singles gallivanting around the tropics in their wedding attire. It also showed the couples coming together on a beach, with accusations levelled about external relationships. So, it’s basically MAFS, but on a beach (and dare we say, beefier?).
Whether or not love will bloom or go bust in paradise remains to be seen.
Who Narrates Stranded On Honeymoon Island Australia?
If the voice of Stranded On Honeymoon Island‘s narrator sounds familiar, that’s because it probably is. The show is narrated by one of Australia’s most famous radio personalities, Jackie O.
