Being in love might not be on-brand for macabre anti-hero, Wednesday, but that hasn’t stopped fans rooting for the “Wyler” (Wednesday and Tyler) romance storyline to continue.
The two outcasts’ chemistry was sizzling (as can be for a deadpan goth with a penchant for darkness) in season one, even sharing a steamy kiss at one point. But alas, as we should have expected from the twisted series, the potential romance was swiftly squashed by betrayal as it was revealed Tyler was the Hyde.
But is it really over? As season two picks up we see Wednesday visit a chained-up Tyler who’s being imprisoned — while she’s throwing insults and he’s threatening to kill everyone she loves, the tension is more palpable than ever. And we love it.
It spurred a number of Wyler fan theories including a potential enemies to lovers arc as well as suggestions that Wednesday may become Tyler’s master in lieu of Laurel.

Did Tyler Ever Like Wednesday?
Hunter Doohan all but confirmed that tension and possible desire isn’t just in fans’ heads or an act on Tyler’s behalf.
“You can see it in episode 2, the shift from the taunting in a flirty way and the way he is talking to her,” he told Us Weekly.
“Then when he finds out she’s just there for information, then it switches and he gets really angry because he’s so hurt.”

When marie claire Australia sat down with Jenna Ortega ahead of season two, part two we asked the star what it is about Wednesday and Tyler that has fans in such a spiral. Her answer? Great chemistry.
“I feel really lucky to have great chemistry with Hunter,” she began, “on a personal level, as friends, as collaborators, we care immensely about one another and we kind of have a same sort of playfulness or spontaneity in the way that we carry ourselves.”
Jenna also echoed Hunter’s previous admission: Tyler does have feelings for Wednesday.
“Obviously Tyler has feelings for Wednesday, he’s constantly trying to pull something out [of her].
“It’s so evident, the tension and the uncertainty — I think that’s what people are probably picking up on.”
But what of Wednesday’s feelings for Tyler? Well, we’ll just have to wait and see.
