Benoit Blanc is back for another adventure because the Knives Out franchise will be expanding with a third film.

Following Knives Out and Glass Onion, the next sequel will be called Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, writer and director Rian Johnson announced on X.

Daniel Craig will be reprising his role as the dreary (but loveable) private investigator—and he’ll be bringing some starry names along for the ride.

Will There Be Another Knives Out Movie?

Yes, Netflix confirmed that a third Knives Out film was in the works after creator Rian Johnson announced the series’ return on social media.

“That’s right, Daniel Craig is back as the suave Southern investigator in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, a new installment of the whodunnit franchise written and directed by Rian Johnson. Blanc will be unravelling a brand-new murder mystery in an as-yet-undisclosed setting, surrounded by a new colourful cast of suspects,” the streamer wrote on its website, Tudum.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery Cast

For both films thus far, Craig has been joined by two separate A-list ensembles, with the first featuring Ana de Armas, Toni Collette, Jamie Lee Curtis and Katherine Langford. Alongside Janelle Monáe, Kate Hudson and Edward Norton, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery starred Outer Banks lead Madelyn Cline.

It seems Johnson is looking to Young Hollywood’s most promising once again for the film’s third instalment. He’s tapped three buzzy names for the third Knives Out film, according the The Hollywood Reporter. The outlet confirmed that Josh O’Connor—who broke through with his role a young Prince Charles in The Crown, before stunning in this year’s hit Challengers—is on board. He will be joined by Cailee Spaeny, who starred as the titular character in Sophia Coppola’s Priscilla last year. Further, Variety has also confirmed that Ripley and Fleabag actor Andrew Scott will be joining the project, too.

Rounding out the confirmed cast members are some established A-listers. Among them, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Mila Kunis and Glenn Close.

Based on pap shots that have emerged from set, it seems like Kunis will be playing some sort of sheriff. The actress was photographed wearing a uniform and hat on June 10.

Another shot from set indicated that O’Connor will be playing a priest. We can only hope that Scott, who won hearts as the “Hot Priest” in Fleabag, will be joining him!

What Will Wake Up Dead Man Be About?

The plot of Wake Up Dead Man is being kept largely under wraps but based on the title we can expect Benoit to have to deal with a dead body (doesn’t he always?).

The only morsel of information we have is in the form of a coy teaser Netflix has released. In the trailer, Benoit narrates, “In the beginning, the knives came out. Then, behold, the glass was shattered. But my most dangerous case yet is about to be revealed.” As for what that actually means is currently anyone’s guess.

Knives Out 3 Release Date
