Married At First Sight (MAFS) couple Sierah and Billy certainly started out as fan favourites.
From the get-go, their chemistry was undeniable, with each expressing a palpable connection from the minute they first met at the end of the aisle.
As the episodes progressed and they began opening up to each other, it seemed as if things were heading in the right direction – albeit a little romantically-slow for new bride Sierah.
After intimacy week it became clear that the two, while compatible in other ways, were struggling to connect on the romance front and fans were rooting (sorry) for a redemption arc that would see the two finally connect.
It appeared that Sierah – confident and forthcoming – wanted Billy to take the lead a bit more when it came to their softer moments. But Billy, slightly less confidant than his budding bride, and obviously struggling (fairly) with the fact that there was a room full of producers and cameras watching on, couldn’t quite meet her expectations.
Viewers were subjected to an incredibly awkward encounter between the striking Sierah and her newly-minted husband, as she asked him to massage her back in a ploy to get them both into the mood.
Unfortunately it seemed to have the opposite effect, with Billy attempting to lather her up like he was washing the dishes, and Sierah becoming increasingly frustrated with his apparent lack of sensual prowess.
Aside from the obvious misalignment there, the couple really did seem like they were heading somewhere good – as long as Sierah could grant Billy a little more time and patience to build up his intimacy skills. And with all the other boxes he ticked, surely they were going to be able make things work?
Did Sierah Cheat On Billy With Adrian?
Things felt solid with Sierah and Billy right up until the end of the last dinner party, where producers struck scandalous gold by uncovering an apparent connection between Sierah, and Awhina’s husband, Adrian.
What started out as a joke about how Sierah had “hung out with Adrian most of the day”, turned into something else entirely as the camera panned to underneath the table where it was revealed that the two were playing a sly game of footsies. Yes, footsies.
Call it good editing, or a palpable energy between the two, but each of their spouses seemed to notice something untoward was going on – without either being able to conclusively put their finger on it.
In an exclusive video released by Channel Nine, each of the contestants were asked how they felt about cheating and given the latest development, Sierah’s answer might reveal more than we first thought.
While admitting she’s been cheated on in the past, she told producers that she doesn’t see infidelity as a “black and white” notion, instead stating that “there are many different reasons why people do cheat.”
“I think depending on the length of the relationship and kind of relationship… it is very different,” she continued.
For Billy, the concept does seem very black and white, as revealed in an interview with TV Week following the bombshell cliff-hanger where he admitted: “I had no idea that happened,” he said.
“I did, however, know there was something going on between them. Awhina (Adrian’s wife) and I weren’t happy. We signed up to be with our partners and when we watched them getting closer, it wasn’t nice. It was very difficult to watch. I felt a bit sad.”
As for the outcome? Viewers will have to wait to see if the couple can recover from the disconnect and move forward at this week’s commitment ceremony.
